Sage-covered desert
awakens, pink lamp above
its tabled gray edge.
Sprinkled dew upon my blue--
sneakered toes, hawk soars,

she's satisfied--mouse in claws:
screeches, boasting while

wind circles between
green cactus, gravity pulled
out water, seeps life.

Dangling creature dead in beak
contrasts her vigor,

sharp sight saw the rodent in
weeds; sweet sun o’erhead.
